Frequently asked questions
How do I format text in Telegram?
Type **bold**, __italic__, ~~strikethrough~~, ||spoiler||, or `code` and Telegram converts it when you send. You can also select text and use the formatting menu.
How do I add a spoiler?
Wrap the text in double pipes: ||hidden text||. Readers tap it to reveal.
What is the message length limit?
4,096 characters per message. Longer text is split into several messages.
Does this work for bots?
Bots use parse_mode MarkdownV2 or HTML, which have slightly different escaping rules, but the same visual styles.
